Policies
Cost of Living
Genuine measures to address the cost of living, including anti-trust laws to break up supermarket duopolies and increase competition.
Health
A fairer system to provide better health (and mental health) outcomes for regional Australians, by increasing funding for regional health to bring it in line with metro.
Infrastructure
Fairness in funding for transit and social infrastructure between cities and regions. Rail to Mount Barker to meet public transport needs for this growing region.
Aged Care
Value and appreciate older Australians. Aged care at home should be accessible, affordable, flexible and available. Current wait times for both assessment and approved packages are unacceptable.
Gambling Reform
End gambling advertising and compel gambling apps to share real-time information showing people just how much they are losing.
Environment
Provide equity in water infrastructure for rural and regional communities and continue to advocate for biodiversity, species loss and reducing plastic pollution. Continued support of the Coorong Lower Lakes Murray Mouth Research Centre in Goolwa.
Childcare
New funding to be tied to locations where there is the most need, and when there is the highest population growth. Priority places should be given to working families.
Housing
New housing in regions must be sympathetic to the environment, complementary to existing housing and supported by appropriate transit and social infrastructure. Concerned many long-term residents are being pushed out by higher rents. Supports affordable housing options, particularly for the elderly and disadvantaged.
Primary Production
Mayo is SA’s food bowl, so there needs to be preservation of Australia’s farmland and support for local grown produce and local manufacture.
Transparency and Integrity
Supports integrity in politics as well as greater transparency.
Immigration
Our immigration intake should be matched to our capacity to appropriately accommodate new migrants and balanced with social and economic benefits. The issue should be looked at as part of the broader picture in terms of levels of health care, housing, transport and other services. Numbers should be regularly reviewed to reflect what’s best for Mayo and the rest of the country.
