Rebekha Sharkie

IN MAYO

I am passionate about our area and believe that community engagement is essential to national decision making.

I work hard to be an independent voice for the people of Mayo, putting my community first and addressing each piece of legislation on its merit.

I champion issues that are important to families who live in Mayo, as well as our businesses, primary producers and industries. Those issues include cost of living, access to affordable healthcare, infrastructure funding, the environment and taking better care of older Australians.

My family and I have called our electorate home for decades. I’m a mum of three adult children and live in the Adelaide Hills with my husband and our friendly Great Dane named Lulu.

Where I Stand

IN CANBERRA

Since first being elected in 2016, I’ve helped secure more than $500 million in funding for Mayo.

I’ve advocated for a range of issues in Parliament, including aged care reform, climate action, political donation reform, gambling reform and integrity and accountability in politics.

I am the first woman to represent the electoral region and am now the longest serving female House of Representatives crossbench MP since Federation.

I’m currently a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Trade and Investment Growth, House Standing Committee on Primary Industries and the Standing Committee on Selection.

In July 2022 I was appointed to the Speaker’s Panel, the first female crossbench member to be bestowed this honour.
